Inspiration
“Safety is not the absence of a threat, it is the presence of connection” - Gabor Mate
Why do I do what I do?
Great question!
Passion, interest, compassion, presence, curiosity, intuition, communication, connection, learning and growth. Are some of the words I would use to sum up why I have chosen the path of a health practitioner. Every client who walks into my treatment room gives me the opportunity to express, experience and practice the words mentioned above. I am grateful for these moments and to have found a career that fills me up on many different levels.
One aspect of my profession that I absolutely love is how I am obligated to keep learning. It is humbling each time I do a course because it changes my point of view on the human body, my approach and my palpation. I hope to always remain humble when it comes to what I “know” about the human body. There are so many layers to an individual's path to healing and it is a very dynamic process unfolding differently for everyone.
I am inspired by many different teachers and mentors from all over the world. Plus every client who walks in my treatment room has something to teach me!
I am moving towards a more osteopathic approach to healing. I love doing myofascial work and I am fascinated by visceral manipulations and craniosacral therapy. I will continue to use some of the massage techniques I have learned in the past when it is indicated for the clients benefit, but as I learn more I expect to be moving farther away from traditional deep tissue and Swedish massage.
