“The heart of healing lies in our ability to listen, to see, to perceive, more than our application of technique.”
Thomas Myers
I studied at the Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences, where I was prepared for the registration exams for British Collumbia Registered Massage Therapy. I had fantastic teachers who inspired me and I fell in love with massage therapy. This is where I became passionate about myofascial release. Initially I thought I would go down the route of sports massage, but now I am fascinated by working with people to make substantial changes. I work with the nervous system and organs to help my clients feel less pain. I have done continuing education with Bodhi Tree Teaching Center, The Barral Institute, Anatomy Trains and Dynamic Therapies. I expect to advance my skills with Craniosacral Therapy, visceral manipulation and nerve manipulation. I find this type of treatment to be very powerful and making changes within the body.
Every piece of human anatomy is connected through the myofascial system including you organs. Visceral mobility is the movement of the viscera in response to external forces. Voluntary or involuntary (diaphragm or heart beat) forces create this movement that push and pull the organs. These tissues can looser their ability to move freely due to inflammation, injury. impact or surgery. This can cause a “drying out” of the tissue which will cause adhesions and restriction in movement. A restriction, fixation or adhesion can limit the ability of the viscera to function normally.
Craniosacral techniques are about listening and being present with the rhythms with in the body. As our body creates and moves cerebrospinal fluid through our central nervous system it creates a pattern of movement that can be felt with gentle touch anywhere in the body. When there is disharmony or a restriction in the body it can be felt through a disruption in this natural flow. Craniosacral can be used as an assessment tool or also a treatment to facilitate harmony in the body.
